OVERLAND TRADE DURING THE MONGOL ASCENDANCY
During Kublai Khan’s reign, the Mongol empire controlled all of China. Because they had control of the entire China, it was safer for people to travel and the leaders would make sure parts of the places were safe and in order. This encouraged trade and travel for people. In the past, China closed off trade routes because of banditry, but because the Mongol Empire had complete control, it was safer for people to travel. This period of time was called the Mongol Ascendancy. Because there was more trade and interactions, the economy thrived. More iteams were bought from different places and it helped raise money.
